Privacy Policy
Short version
The Kopfrechnen app does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no user accounts, no logins, no cloud sync, no advertising, no analytics, no third-party tracking SDKs. Everything the app knows stays on your device.
Background: Kopfrechnen is not a publisher product. It is a school project by two third-graders in Bavaria, built with their parents' help and AI tools (Claude Code and Claude Design via Open Claw). Because the target audience is primary-school children, privacy was the first design constraint, and the simplest way to keep that promise is to collect nothing at all.
1. Data the app processes
The app stores the following entirely on the local device:
- The profile names you create (e.g. "Max", "Anna")
- Practice progress (which questions were answered, whether they were correct)
- Per-child settings such as audio playback speed
None of this leaves the device. We do not receive any of it.
2. Network access
The app does not require an internet connection to operate. It does not make background connections to our servers or to any third party.
3. Advertising & tracking
The app contains no advertising, no tracking pixels, no analytics SDKs, and does not access the device's Advertising ID.
4. Children's data (COPPA / GDPR-K)
The app is designed for primary-school children. Precisely for this reason it is built to collect no data at all, so the question of processing children's personal data under GDPR Art. 8 or COPPA simply does not arise.
5. CSV export / import (optional)
The parent area offers a CSV export/import for practice data. This runs entirely on the device. The exported file goes wherever you save it (Files, Drive, etc.). We have no access to it.
6. Permissions
The app requests only permissions necessary for its function:
- Audio output: to read questions aloud
- Storage: only for the optional CSV export/import feature
It does not request access to contacts, location, camera, microphone, or calendar.
7. Your rights
Because we do not collect any data from you or your child, there is no data that you could request or have deleted from us. To remove all app data, simply uninstall the app. All locally-stored profiles, progress, and settings are removed with it.
8. Provider
The provider and GDPR data controller is the parents behind this children's school project. Because the app processes no personal data, most GDPR duties effectively don't apply. For any questions, write to [email protected].
9. Changes
Should this privacy policy be updated, the current version will always be available at kopfrechnen.app/privacy.html.
